Last minute project!
FOMP has just been informed that this coming Sunday October 18th there is an organized cleanup of Mt. Herman Rd. This effort is being run by Leslie Hull and will focus on cleaning up trash and debris along Mt. Herman Rd. from the intersection with Red Rocks Dr. to as far up as Rampart Range Rd. time permitting.
Here are the details for this Sunday’s clean up:
- The project site/meeting point will be the intersection of Mt. Herman Rd. and the intersection of Red Rocks Dr.
- Organizers or a USFS representative will be present at the project meeting site from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday if you are only able to attend for a part of the day please stop by to find out where the group is working
- The USFS will provide a briefing at 8:00 a.m.
- The USFS will be providing a dumpster for this project
- Stop by any time and work for as long as you are able!
- Lunch will be provided mid day
Hopefully you can find some time to join in this effort to get some much needed clean up completed on Mt. Herman Rd.
This coming Saturday October 17th will be your final opportunity to perform volunteer trail work for the 2009 season! If you have been meaning to get out there this is your chance!
The project will be run by an Eagle Scout candidate under the supervision of FOMP. Teak Guffin is the Eagle Scout candidate and will be running a crew of scouts and volunteers on the Limbaugh Canyon Trail #715 for most of Saturday. If you are able and planning on attending please contact Jon Nordby at 719-640-1347, or email@example.com, and copy Teak Guffin at firstname.lastname@example.org. Teak will be arranging lunch for those who plan on working both morning and afternoon so it is important that you let them know if you are going to do so. Continue reading
Examining the USFS web site we found an additional USFS document that sets out the USFS objectives for the travel management plan. Its is available from the FS at: http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/psicc/projects/pp_ramp/rrobjectives.pdf or directly from FOMP attached to this posting.
Travel Management Plan Objectives (pdf)
Please be aware that the USFS is holding scoping meetings on the South Rampart Travel Management Plan. These meetings are extremely important. If you are able to attend now is the time for you to have input to the future of the Pike National Forest. Please see the notice below that FOMP received via email. The attachments are available on the FOMP web site (with any luck they are also attached to this posting/email). If you can not attend please read the report and submit comments as suggested in the below notice from the USFS. Continue reading
This is just a brief reminder that Friends Of Monument Preserve will hold our monthly board meeting tomorrow night Tuesday October 13, 2009 at 7:00PM in the Fire Center Classroom. This is a change from our summer schedule! For those of you unfamiliar with the classroom building make your first left into the Fire Center after Mt. Herman Rd. turns to dirt, the classroom building is the first building on your right.
Our agenda will include the following:
- Upcoming Fall/Winter 2009/2010 events calendar
- Summer Trail work briefing
- Open Agenda for members
It should be short and to the point.
